Ease Yourself into the Water

At the start of a swim, whether you are practising, or doing a few lengths of the pool, ease yourself into the water…
With your feet on the floor, squat so that your loosely extended arms (including your shoulders) are submerged and your face is near to the surface of the water. Give your chin, your mouth, your nose, your eyes, your forehead to the water, without rushing. Let the rest of your body follow your head slowly into the water.
Make your entry into the water a calming ritual. Ease yourself into the water and then stay in that frame of mind, keeping movements flowing and not rushed.
